Ajax FireProtect Plus Wireless Fire Detector

FireProtect Plus is a wireless indoor fire detector equipped with a siren. The device works up to four years from a pre-installed battery. FireProtect Plus detects the presence of smoke in the room or a sharp increase in temperature and reacts to dangerous levels of carbon monoxide. The FireProtect Plus smoke detector works both as part of an intruder alarm system connected to the security system's control panel — hub and stand-alone.When used independently, in the event of fire detection, the sensor will report an alarm with a sound signal and the light turning on the logo. The FireProtect Plus wireless fire detector is connected to the Ajax security system via the Jeweller secure radio protocol and can operate at a distance of up to 1300 m from the hub in the absence of obstacles.

Principle of operation

The sensor detects smoke using an infrared emitter and a photodetector located in the smoke chamber. When smoke enters the camera, the photodetector detects it by the distortion of the infrared beam. Since some materials burn without emitting smoke, the fire alarm sensor detects sudden temperature changes. In the event of a fire, the gas sensor will turn on the siren with a volume of 85 dB, and the logo at this moment will turn red to indicate the incident. Users can turn off the triggered sensor siren by holding the Ajax logo on the device body for three seconds or through the Ajax application. If the smoke level or temperature does not return to normal after 10 minutes, the detector will turn on the siren again. In the event of an alarm, the security system notifies all users with sirens and push notifications, SMS, and calls — the type of notification depends on the settings. And the synchronous alarm function turns on the sirens of all fire detectors in the system as soon as one of them registers an alarm.

Installation and connection of the Ajax FireProtect Plus wireless fire detector

The FireProtect Plus fire detection sensor connects to the hub in the mobile app. It is mounted on the SmartBracket mount and does not require disassembly of the case. When installing the Ajax security system, it is necessary to ensure the good audibility of fire detector sirens. The LED indication of the devices should be visible. It is recommended to install the FireProtect Plus smoke detector on the ceiling. The sensors will detect smoke and temperature fluctuations less effectively when placed on a wall. It is not recommended to install a fire detector:

• Outdoors and areas with high air circulation (near ceiling fans, air conditioners, hoods and windows).
• Near metal objects and mirrors — cause attenuation or shielding of the radio signal.
• In rooms with humidity or temperature outside the norm (from 0°С to +65°С).
• In places where access to the sensor is difficult.
• In proximity to kitchen electrical appliances.

To add a smoke detector to the Ajax system, you need to do the following:

• Open the Ajax mobile application;
• click Add device and enter the name of the sensor;
• scan or manually enter the QR code (located on the body and packaging of the device);
• set a room;
• turn on the smoke detector.

If several FireProtect Plus sensors are used in the integrated security system, users can activate the synchronous alarm of fire sensors in the hub settings. This function turns on the built-in sirens of all fire detectors as soon as at least one of them registers an alarm. It is recommended to install a fire detector in all rooms where a fire can occur or carbon monoxide is allowed to form.
